Educational Activities

The (Primary) Elementary School includes children between the ages of 6 to 11 (years old). The (didactics) educational activities for every class (aim to) highlight the individuality and singularity of every child. (so that) They can express themselves to the fullest and (make the most of) give value to their abilities. For this purpose, all school activities (mean) involve that all children take responsibility (in relation to) for their work in the classroom and in other areas of the school. Children do not only learn but build their knowledge and personality through experiences and relationships in the environment with (things) materials and (others) other people.

Classes

In order to promote socialisation (between) among pupils of the same age, (class groups are shuffled by teachers at various moments throughout the year) the teachers shuffle the class groups many times during the year. This encourages sociability and the ability to open up to large groups and build non-exclusive relationships within them by enhancing and diversifying interpersonal skills. During free work activities the (classrooms-)labs are opened up to all pupils of the same age to share the environment equipped with Montessori materials.

The classrooms

The 11 Primary (Elementary) School Classrooms are on the first floor (and there are 11 of them). The (classrooms-)labs are very large and bright (and). They are prepared for the study of specific groups of subjects; they are equipped with (all) the most suitable tools and (materials for study) study materials (and in-depth analysis of the) to explore different subjects. Children experience school as a collection of spaces prepared for specific activities: they move around and access the different classrooms. (Also) On the first floor there are 4 toilet blocks, a toilet for adults and a disabled toilet, too. On the same floor there is the computer lab with 13 PCs and a large space for English labs. The art and music rooms are on the ground floor.

Particular attention is paid to create innovative learning environments that include the use of technological tools and multimedia resources. All classes have computers and Touch Monitor PCs or a touch LIM with video projectors. (and) They (are connected to the) have internet connection (via a cable network).  Common areas also have a WI-FI network.

The 440 sq. m gym has a volleyball and a basketball court, (there is) equipment for high jump,  two backrests and balance boards. There is an electronic scoreboard, two changing rooms with toilets and showers, a referee/teacher room with toilets and two storage rooms.

Lunch is served in the large dining room that can seat up to 150 people. (Recreation) Recess is in the large, landscaped garden where children are also involved in taking care of the orchards and vegetable gardens; when (the weather does not permit it) it is not possible children spend (recreation) recess in the gym, in the drop-off spaces and classrooms.
